Brands That Turned Heads Last NYFW

by Chip Tornedon

New York Fashion Week is a marathon that sets trends for the global market. Some of the designers come up with functional designs that can be worn every day by anyone with the confidence to pull these looks off. However, some other designs are often capitalize on out-of-this-world designs that can only be admired from the runway. Some notable brands and designers that turned heads in the last NYFW include:

Proenza Schouler

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez announced their departure from NYFW and their transition into the Paris Couture Week instead. Having started from humble beginnings, these two designers could not leave without making a statement.

The Logo Straps

These straps and zipper pulls bear the logo of the brand. The brand has never been overly flashy and thus their design of logo gear at NYFW came in a unique light. The logo folds in half and is then secured to zipper pulls and straps that hung from purses and jackets. Only a trained eye or one that is conversant with Proenza Schouler design can be able to see the logo and identify the brand.

The Cast of Models

Proenza Schouler did not spare any expense. The runway was chock full of famous models including Natalie Westling, Selena Forrest, Vincent Beier, Meghan Collison and Lineisy Montero. This star-studded runway at NYFW had tongues wagging.

Beautiful Jewelry

Jack and Lazaro used some tasteful coiled bangles in a pale lilac color and jet black variations. The jewelry fit comfortably into the overall look of the collection at New York Fashion Week, complimenting the collection while standing out as well.

Flat Shoes

The brand also incorporated flat shoes on the runway. The two designers went with pastel ankle-wrap sandals, and cowboy inspired brogues. This was a bold and rewarding move.

ZAGH

Riham Zaghloul, the main designer at ZAHG, made her debut at NYFW by collaborating with Egyptian Designer, Farida Temraz. The jewelry designer stepped up the game with her modern reconstruction of different Egyptian themes all wrapped in flawless quality in unique pieces.

The jewelry line had heads turning. It is delicate and unpredictable yet also exudes confidence and success in the wearer.

Calvin Klein

Calvin Klein made a splash through Raf Simons’s debut. While people expected the designer to go with a minimalist design, he went with the contrary at NYFW. He focused instead on varsity sweaters, power suits, and quilts. In addition to this Calvin Klein featured its denim and underwear campaign much to the awe of everyone at the show.

Last New York Fashion Week presented us with a number of options. There were those brands that turned heads for all the good reasons while others were impressive but not all that. With the new trends, the designers who debuted and those who left, NYFW was full of surprises. We can only expect much more from the next. Until then, we’ll keep our eye on the official schedule.
